You don't have to stay for the cruise! It is only an option.... The gathering is in the afternoon hours and, as I noted in the earlier posts, people are welcome to come and stay for as long or as little a time as they wish!

*****NEW LOCATION POSSIBILITY / INPUT NEEDED*****

We have reached CAPACITY for the Paul Wolff Shelter we currently have reserved.

THUS ... I drove around the area a bit and found a potential new location:
STEAK'n'SHAKE

This is...
...NORTH of I-88, IL RT 64
...SOUTH of IL RT 20 (by about a block or so), I-90, IL RT 72
...EAST of I-39, IL RT 47
...WEST of IL RT 31, IL RT 25
...~20-minute drive, S from the I-90/Randall Rd interchange.


I spoke with the Steak'n'Shake general manager on Saturday, May 17. They have a 95-person capacity, and while they do not take reservations, the manager assured me they would be able to accomodate the entire group, if everyone wants to eat there. The manager suggested keeping the gathering time at noon, which would be before their usual Saturday "rush" arrives....



PLUSES FOR THIS LOCATION

* Overnight accomodation options remain the same!

* Steak'n'Shake sits in front of a shopping center that is CURRENTLY mostly UNOCCUPIED, which means, we have plenty of parking.

* If you do not like Steak'n'Shake, a KFC is right next door; across Randall Rd, other restaurant options include McDonalds, Burger King, etc.

* A bit closer to car show possibilities ... and, given the location, the gathering could very well turn INTO a car cruise gathering.



DRAWBACKS FOR THIS LOCATION

* Farther away from overnight accomodations than the Preserve (but not as far away as other options are...).

* This will no longer be a cookout type gathering (but, we'll have room for everyone).

* This is in a higher-traffic area than the Preserve.

* While starting time for the gathering would remain at noon, the time at one location would be shorter, unless people come to check out our cars.... If we have to go elsewhere, plenty of cruise nights are in the area at which we could arrive a bit "early"....

Hey Wayne...the county cares. They told me absolutely no more than 75 people. The parking lot will not hold that many cars, by far...no parking on the grass. Frankly, I think the capacity of the pavilion is more than the capacity of the parking lot.... More to come, I'm sure...I haven't seen what others have said because I was offline from the time I posted that on the other boards over 2 weeks ago until just this week.....
