<!-- /Main photo wrapper --><!-- test output end: --><!-- the article, at a glance, downloads, top competitors, from buying guide --><!-- left column -->The $151,500 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG is a difficult car to assess. It contains enough features to occupy a month’s worth of customization. You’ll get to optimize everything from Active Multicontour Seats With Massage (personal choice: Off) to Multicolor Ambient Cabin Lighting (personal choice: Off) to Active Lane Keeping Assist (personal choice: Off).

Are you perhaps sensing a trend here?
Yet the CL63 AMG also has stupendous performance: Our track lads saw 60 mph arrive in a mere 3.9 seconds, the quarter mile in 12.1 sec. at 119.7 mph. Skidpad and slalom evaluations also yielded numbers particularly impressive for this luxurious—and at 4895 lb., hefty—coupe: 0.92g and 68.0 mph, respectively.

Paradoxically, the CL63 AMG also has Mercedes’ Eco Start/Stop, one of the best conventional starter/battery systems in terms of its transparency of operation. Indeed, I left this feature On.

All told, the car’s fuel economy improves by some 16 percent compared with its predecessor’s. Officially, the EPA rates the new one at 15/22, city/highway mpg, respectively. I suspect what’s more satisfying to an owner is the coolest burble made by the potent V-8 on restart.

2012 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG

Reflecting these Eco times, the car’s CL63 moniker is rather an exaggeration: Its standard engine is a twin-turbo displacing 5.5 liters, yet producing 536 bhp at 5500 rpm; torque is 590 lb.-ft. from 2000 to 4500 rpm. As if this weren’t sufficient, our test car came with the $7300 AMG Performance Package that enhanced things to 563 bhp and 663 lb.-ft. of torque. Holy gizmos!

Hi `Mike, we need to hit the Big Lotto, or start rob'in some banks...We both have expensive taste in Exotic `Rides

There's a lot of people in Florida that own Mercedes & they seem to all be in great condition...A few of the seniors I know have owned them or some still do...

I also like the Brabus Edition Mercedes 4-Sure

There's a lot of other cars on my short list I could obtain for 150 grand that I'd be happier with. Not that there is anything wrong with that Benz, but I'd prefer something a bit more sporty with better performance if I was going to drop that kind of coin on a new ride.

Hi `Mike, what cars are on your short list...I have to many on my to list, but I agree `if I had over $150K, I would be looking at a new ZR`1 & keep the remaining $'s to enjoy driving it & maintaining it in top condition..

Thanks everyone for your posts/comments...
Space `Out (I'm on over time @ work) need a reCharge 4 Sure

My wish list is arm length also, but a few on it are a Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS or GranTurismo MC, Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8 Spyder, Nissan GT-R and of course a tweaked Camaro ZR1.

I've only come to like mercedes rather recently, that on is OK, but like mike i think i'd drop that kind of money else where. Maybe i'll afford it if my business takes off No i'd have a fleet of monte carlos, that would be fun...
