zEtti - New Member! Northern Illinois
Hey all, my name is Matt. I live in north eastern Illinois about 5 minutes from the WI border. Went to college for 2 years for automotive and shockingly enough am working at Abbott Labs as a chemical dispenser. haha, I didn't want to ruin the hobby by working at a repair shop. So I got out of that real fast, but I absolutely love cars.
My first car was a 2000 monte carlo ss that i bought because the price was right, but i wasn't a fan of the car at all. not too sure what happened over the last 3 years but montes are by far one of my favorite cars now and actually just bought a beautiful laser blue 05 ss supercharged with 48k miles on it for only 11 grand. steal of a deal i thought. i get to go pick her up this coming saturday ;D very excited about it!
I was going to fix up my 00 but the rear strut bucket is rusting out bad and i didnt feel like throwin a ton of money into it so now im just going to sell it for whatever i can get, has 98k miles on it and runs great. although just recently i've been having this new problem where the traction control comes on when i go to accelerate, even if its very light acceleration or a little bit of a hill. it doesnt do it always, but a lot of the time. its very annoying because it bogs the engine way down and everything even though im not spinning a wheel or anywhere near it haha. anyone have any idea what that can be? I can turn trac off and it doesn't do it, but i would really like to get this fixed before i sell the car.
Besides that.. i've been lurking these forums on and off for the past year now and for some reason never made an account so i finally decided to. Seems like there is a bunch of friendly good people here and i can't wait to get to know some of you! Also curious if there are any car meets in the area? If not we should get some going! Or possibly an annual MCF car meet. i think thatd be pretty cool! alright well its getting late and ive got to be up at 5 for work
and i can just ramble on forever so i think i'm going to just stop myself here ahaha.

Welcome to the site. There are a few members from you area I think. The problem on the 2000 sounds like a bad hub. there are plenty of posts about them and it's a fairly common problem. Also be sure to check in in the roll call section.

Hi Matt & Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family...
Yes, Monte Carlo's can be addicting, and it sounds like you found a great SuperCharged one...
Look forward to reading all about it & seeing pictures.
Explore the MCF and use our search engine for subjects of interest, and if you can't find, just make a post & ask..
Good Luck with your new Monte and `Life
