87 monte carlo ss transmission issue. when I put it in drive it takes off smooth but the tach gets up to 3000 rpm before it shifts. I just got the car and I don't know if it has a shift kit or not. A shift kit wouldn't do that or would it. Please help me understand what this issue might be. thanks
