Default thinking of carlo as 1st car

ive been doing tons of research for a good first car. Me being a true car person DID NOT want a honda, looked at some VR6's, but didnt want to pay 10k for a car with 100k miles on it. So here i am today, im considering a 95-99 MC z34, but i hear that the 3.4 dohc is unreliable. How unreliable is it, my dad use to be a mechainic but some things you can do yourself. Thanks

I've never heard the 3.4 referred to as unreliable. How many miles on this particular unit?

My first car back in 1976 was a 283 yellow Chevelle with a black vinyl top. It only costs $500. I think the Z34 is extremely comparable this day to the Chevelle's of my day. I'd get one if I were 16 today.

I concur...My first car was something most people here in the US have never heard of: a 1995 Nissan ADwagon

Being the first of my class to have a driver's license...I was the shiznit. But if I could have had a 95 Monte Carlo, I don't know what I would have done with myself.

Go for it, man!

SO, back to the topic at hand...anybody see a reason why Mr. quagmireSS shouldn't go for the 95 - 99 Monte 3.4?
