Default Temp problems! Cant figure out.

Hey I'm hoping you guys can help.
I have a 03 Monte. Just bought the car like 4 months ago.
The car has run well in that time.
It just started over heating the other day.
Not really overheating. The temp gage is spiked at cold. And my cooling fans wont kick on.
After two days of troubleshooting. Change the relays, which didn't do anything.
Change the temp sending unit. And still no change.
It has a 3100, in it.
Just found out, that it is not the original motor. it is out of a late 90's modle Monte.
Im am putting a bigger motor in it just dont have the time right now.
Please help! Very Frustrated!!!!!!!

This happened with my last Monte.. Never found out what it was, just replaced the fans. Fortunately, these cars are good with the "turn on the heat" trick..

Whenever I would get above half, id just turn on the heat..

Lol! Turns out it was temp sending unit. And a relay.
But thanks!
