Spark Plugs and wires changing
My name is David and I am 68 years old and about 6 months ago I purchased a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. My SS has 139K miles and I am want to change the spark plugs and wires. Just wondering if I should change the plugs and wires myself or just take it to the Chevy Dealer and let the professionals do it...
I live in Richmond Virginia and I love to play Golf when the weather permits.

Welcome David , changing the plugs and wires aren't too difficult. The back one are a little tougher to get but there's a trick referred to as tipping the motor which makes it a lot easier. You'll need to block the tires so the car can't roll away and put in neutral. Remove the upper 2 engine mounts and pull the engine forward using the mount bracket on the engine. Most people use a ratchet strap connected to the car or solid work bench and just tighten the strap which in turn pulls tips the engine giving a lot more room to access the back plugs. There is a actual tool that is basically a scissors jack. You can remove them without this process but this just makes it easier. Good luck .
