Default Searching for parts for a 1998 MC 3.1 V6

Hello everybody. I have a younger brother that is being given a red 1998 Monte Carlo Ls, its got the 3.1 with about 150,000 miles on it and I plan on helping him work on it. The body is kind of roughed up, dents, some scratches, needs a new fender but I am going to be repairing all that and he can have it repainted. The car runs descent from what I have seen so far, needs a good tune up. Can anyone tell me any good websites that offer parts for the 3.1, I have been teaching him how to work on cars like body work, motors, transmissions and about modding for performance. Is there many aftermarket options for bolt-ons such as intake, intake manifold, headers, exhaust, and that sort of thing? I will keep on searching, I appreciate any help!

For Cold air intakes your pretty much screwed unless you want to rewire your battery else where and make a custom fender well intake. I also have a 3.1 in my 1998 ls, and there is very little aftermarket thats worth the money putting into a 3.1. I would recomend doing an engine swap to a 3.8 and then looking for parts from there. With all the custom work you do to a 3.1 it wont get dramatically more then the 3.8 can easily put out.

i like mine stock. its got enough git up and go, and it does great on fuel. like cut throat said, there is not a ton you can do to a 3.1, your limited to a CAI thats a pita to install and exaust stuff.

do you have any "before" pics of the car? i keep kicking myself i didint take any of my 97 ls sitting all green and moldy with grass above the roofline... amazing what a good detailing can do

Yeah I noticed that about the battery, its kind of right in the way for a CAI, but hell I couldn't even find anyone that sells one, lol. Thanks everyone for the info. I'll try to get some pictures sooner or later but we dont have the car over here yet, a family member is holding on to it so it isn't going anywhere. I kind of think since the lack of aftermarket performance parts and since the car has 150,000+ miles on it he should wait and save his money and if he wants more power later we can go thru with the motor swap. In the mean time he can start on the wheel/tire and handeling department.

When you decide to do the engine swap the above link has some engines I would consider if there arent any local donor cars you can find.
