Default Purchasing Question

I am currently in the market for a 2007 Monte Carlo LT. I have a specific combination of options and colors I want (Precision Red, sunroof, ebony leather, premium audio, low milesetc., basically loaded) and I'm having a hard time finding what I want locally. I'm really not willing to compromise on any of the options becasue, well, I don't have to.

My question is do dealers have some super secret way of searching other dealer inventories across the US? I was at a dealer yesterday where I test drove an 07 LT (loved it btw) and he made a comment about "Smart Auction" where dealers can bid on cars for you. Ever heard of this? Any ideas of any other search mechanisms?

Hi `Dave, from the Capital City of Ohio, &
Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family.
There are several avenue's to search for a Monte Carlo.
[:-]
a. connect to their site & use their advance search which
will let you choose year/model/color/miles/etc of the Monte
you are searching.
2. I don't know `if you have Auto Max in Columbus, Ohio,
but they can locate the car you are looking for.
3. If you know any dealer's, they can check the Columbus
Auto Auction for what is running that week.
I believe it's justsouth of Coumbus.
4. Another site with good search features is
[:-]
Good Luck on your search for that special Monte Carlo.
Please keep us updated when you find.

I've kinda heard of it, the salesperson we talked to when we got this told us that they had just gotten it from the auction two days before.

Is it the dark or light? I've got the Dark Metallic Silver and while at first I wanted to get it painted I now realize that it's grown on me greatly and I've gotten plenty of compliments on the color. It manages to pop pretty well.

There is also the Silverstone Metallic like what RJ has.

Yeah, I think the hangups I have about the 2006 are:
[ul][*]My warranty will be up within prob 6 months[*]The powertrain warranty on the 06 is ony 3/36,000 compared to 5/100000 on the 07[*]The 06 gas milage is less[*]Why was the 3.9 used one year and dropped the next? I think the 3.9 is still around in the impala though[/ul]
For some reason I think e85 will come around and that was another reason I was leaning towards the 07. Although when I do the math e85 would have to be $.90 cheaper than gas for it to be a wash considering the less mileage with ethanol.

I drove an 07 LT yesterday and thought the acceleration was decent, but then again I drive a 99 Silverado everyday.

You can do what they will be doing for you by going to Vehix.com and plugging in all the options you want. Then, you sort-out how far away the car is for you. The Dealership's have a Transportation Network that's constantly moving cars from one place to another. You can beat the system by going to where you find the car and driving it home.
