Default Prospective Monte buyer here....

Hello all, and yea, I'm premature. I'm going to be purchasing a '00-'05 Monte SS in the next few weeks or so. A lil' about myself...

I've owned a few decently fast rides in the past..my most recent an '01 Trans Am that dynoed at 684 RWHP and 712 RWTQ...Forged heads/cam, dual stage N2O, all suspension, pretty much the works. My best run was in the high 10s. Prior to that, I had an '85 Trans Am with a 415 RWHp 383 stroker motor in it. Sadly, that car was stolen, and when the police recovered it a week later down in Homestead, Fl, the engine had thrown rods and several cracked pistons. I also had a bolt-ons only '01 Z28 that I had earlier before trading it in for the Trans Am.

I currently have an '04 Hemi Ram Quad cab truck and a 20 ft. 320 HP Yamaha jet boat. My daily driver is the all-exciting Chevy Cavalier .

I've always loved the Montes. And while I am looking to modify it, because it is a rather tame car(sorry fellas :P), I don't feel obligated to go all out on it as I would if I had an LS1-type car fall into my grubby hands.

Thanks for readin'!

Yeah... these 3.8s are tame. The fastest one is only 8.65 @ 158.97 in the 1/4...

haha

Welcome welcome. Can't wait to see pictures of everything!

LOL, I guess that one was "untamed".
Mine is fast enough to get me in trouble.

Welcome. If you want a non-so-tamed Monte, go for the 06-07 LS4!

Thanks for the welcome fellas. I'll take the "tame" comment back. I spent so much time in the LS1 and SBC world that I completely disregarded the 3800s. Not anymore. I'm probably going to be picking up my Monte in the next couple of weeks as soon as some members of my family fly their butts back to Vegas(kids drain $$ like crazy). I found a great N/A '03 SS for sale on the cheap, and I'd have just enough money to throw a Turbo on that sucker, had 3800 performance help me on the call.

I never knew these little v6's were that damn tough. I had to do a forged rebuild in my LS1(crankshaft, pistons, etc..) just so I could beyond a heads and cam setup. The stock rearends are like pretzels, and the tranny....ugh!

Lookin' to have some fun. My goal is to have around 350WHP in the very near future, with a shot of n2o, turbo cam, and built tranny some time next year.

We can't wait to see what you get. The 5th gens are great-lookin', handle beautifully, and have a nice smooth ride. I love my 07, but I really miss the hood styling of the 00-05's. Keep us updated, k?
