north dakota 78 monte carlo
Hi from Nd I have a 1978 that wife had when i met her many years ago . I rebuilt the engine (305) at 120,ooo miles now it has 1600,000 mile no noise from ehine at all but has been parked for over 12 years . so the valve seals are gone. no noise at all in the motor , i have flat tops in it boerd .30 over and heads shaved .010 I want to get better hp out of it as i am going to start restoring it for her i want torque and power from it . Lopey idle is not a problem, and will have a 2500 stall converter. heads have to come off anywat so my uncle has a set of 305 head that were in a stock car and had plenty of torque but seemed to quite breathing on the straight. what heads would be good for a driveable car and stilll making the car be able to smoke the tires. i have thought about an air gap manifold and edelfrock 600 cfm square bore carb, headers with larger systm diameter exhaust. what cam would work best with this. with the flat tops and heads shaved ten thousandths what CR would you think i nad running at this time? whew............
