Noobie
Hi, im new to the forums. My name is Zach and I just recently bought an 06 Monte LTZ. 89k paid only like 9500 from a dealer, Seemed like a good deal. Anything I should be looking out for mechanically? cause I only have a 1 month warranty and I plan on getting the most out of it. Booyah first awesome car.
welcome to the forum.......
1, any cel/abs codes? could be a bad wheel bearing/hub, I had to replace 1 after I got my car.
2. TPMS sensors working? Tire pressure monitoring system sensors. Do you have psi readings for all tires, you can find this by going through your DIC (driver info center).
3. Make sure your defroster is working, if it's not, it's not the defrost grid on the back glass. It's a wiring issue on the passenger side under the dash, accessed from inside the car.
4. Any clicking when changing between heat and ac from under the dash, it will click for about 5-10 minutes then go away. It's the actuators located under the dash, there are 3 of them, and I've heard they can be a pita to change. I've been dealing with this for the last year or so. Also heard it could lead to ac issues? Not sure though, but for the last few days my ac seems not to be working at it's best.
Check all I have mentioned, I don't mean to scare you off but this is just some issues I've had for the last 5+ years. All in all, I love the car......

Hello Zach and Welcome to the forum!
I would make a complaint about the tranny, just to have something on record. Not shifting right etc. Our cars typically have tranny issues. Has it ever been serviced? Pull the dip stick out and look at it for a nice pink color, not a dark red, feel it for texture, gritty, gummy. Smell it, does it have a burnt smell to it. If all looks, feels and smells good perhaps it's been taken care of. I would get a filter and fluid change done even if you don't have issues like above, just so you know the fluid / filter are new, so you can help your tranny live longer.
Look closely for rust / paint bubbling by the fender wheel wells. Seems like moisture / grit gets trapped between the metal body and plastic wheel well liner leading to premature rusting, not a cheap fix if it gets doe right.
Overall our Monte's are very very nice cars, and truly unique in appearance. Congrats on your purchase!!

Thanks for the input everybody. it does have some very minor rust on the bottom of the front wheel wells by the rockers, but i can do body work so ill take care of that shortly. transmission fluid seems okay but ill get it serviced anyways just incase. also ive noticed that when i have the turn signal on there is a slight frequency noise that comes out of the speakers is this normal?
