Default Non-Monte owner here.

My father in law just bought a 1987 Monte Carlo Aero Coupe. He is THE most computer unfriendly person on the planet and he will be asking my all the questions that I will soon be asking you guys.

I own a 1987 Buick GN and I am used to telling the uneducated that it is not a Monte Carlo. Anyhow I do not know much about the 305 in his car and where and whom to get the parts from. I do know the cars current carb is a holley because the factory one that was sent out to be rebuilt was rebuilt wrong. I know who the experts are in the turbo Buicks are and where to go to either get answers or to get parts. I guess I will be learning my way around a Monte Carlo as well. So I would like to say thanks ahead of time.

o i was going to say since it has a holly on it now doubble check that the dist was switched over to a Vac advance style becuase the dist and stock carb are controlled by the computer, so if the carb is replaced the comp cant adjust the timing throught the stock dist becuase it doesn't know whats going on with the carb

I will be working the next four days (4 on 4 off schedule) so after that I will get a pic of my car and try to get a pic of his. The Monte needs new paint. The factory paint is dead. It is the silver with the burgandy interior.
I just feels a little odd describing colors of a car. Our forum is pretty much a given on the the color of paint and interior except on the t-types and turbo t's.
