Default Newbie to the MC Forum..

Hey Everyone!
I've been here a few days now and I wanted to provide more info. about me and my car.. I'm 5' 6", have brown hair and am fairly skinny. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas so if I ever see snow I'm gonna take pictures. Also the car picture was taken Oct. 27, 2010, just FYI. I drive a 2005 (6th Gen) Monte Carlo and have had her since 2006. She was originally a member of the Enterprise Rent-a-car fleet. At the time, it had about 13,500 miles. It now has almost 60K. Because it was formally a rental, I had a few concerns about her She's been a good car, except it's missing a few things I thought would be standard by 2005- no ABS or Traction control. I guess that's been a mixed blessing- less stuff to screw up. But I know I can lock up my wheels- particularly when it's wet.. I also gone through the drama that most 6th Gen MC owners have- Burnt out dash panel bulbs and sticky gauges. Ka-ching.. Because I had a rental at that point, I had to choose the quickest option- replace the Instrument Cluster. At the time my family didn't have a spare car, as the Monte would be not drivable with out the Instrument cluster. We now have a spare car and I can wait and get the LED conversion if they go out again. Oh well, my previous car was made before they had ABS or Traction Control- a 1982 Olds 98 2-door. It even had an 8-Track. As you can tell, I grew up with GM- the Olds my family had since new, but by 2005, the computer controlled carb.- part of GM's infamous Computer Command Control, was going out again, giving me the "Check Engine" light. After 3 replacements (2001, 2004, 2005) By early 2006 I had to finally make a decision and say goodbye to the car I grew up with. Additionally, that car had 2 engines (the Olds 307, not the diesel, thank god) replaced,(1998 and then 2003) and 2 tranny overhauls, (the thing always leaked and was shifting funky). The car looked like new at least, with fresh paint, vinyl top, and seats. To this day I still miss that couch on wheels, even if she was in the shop most of the time.

Welcome! Nice Monte. Always a fan of that color blue in the Monte Carlos.

Thanks for the little bio on the Oldsmobile 98. You rarely see any two door 98s anymore. Especially up north. I like the reference to the "couch" seating in the car.
Those Olds were so comfortable up front and in back! A lot more comfortable than my couch at home! LOL!

Enjoy!
