Thanks for the add! Just picked up this 1 owner 91k mile 85 Monte ls. 4.3 fuel injected. I dont have a lot of knowledge of domestics sadly, but my question is... Im going to be using this as a daily driver. Of course i want to swap it but the knowledge isnt there from me. So would it be reasonable to ask for 250-300 hp out of this motor? The motor is in great shape no ticking or knocking. I would love to keep it 4.3 and have some fun in it, but if its a dumb thought i would pay someone for a 5.3/5.7 swap. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

 

Wow I haven't seen an 85 since I had one years back.
Mine had 5,000 miles when I got it, a 4.3 and at 125,000miles the motor went out. I used it for a sales rep car and only did highway miles. They may last longer but who knows? The later model 4.3 V-6s we improved significantly. You may want to check on the small block 350 to obtain that kind of HP. they are normally bullet proof.

Nice find and welcome to forum! To get the horsepower your looking for a swap will definitely take care of that, pretty common these days lol. I swapped my v6 231 years ago. 4.3 wasn't a bad motor but won't achieve horsepower output your desiring.
