Whats up peoples I'm fairly new here, but not really i've been vistiting the site since I got my monte carlo in late Dec, but just recently joined. Anyways Ive wanted a MC for around a yr now and think I jumped the gun and brought a bad one, I wanted the most car I could get 4 the money and I saw a deal a 2004 SS for $3200,and I jumped on it,test drove it and it seemed ok high miles 180k so I brought it,drove it home and notice the tranny slipping and the cel came on as soon as I got off the highway....

you bought it in December and the issues started right away? No warranty with it (30 days) or anything?

Welcome to the forum. Honestly 3200 for the car isn't terrible. If the transmission is the only problem, you can easily get a used transmission for like $400 and toss that in and you'll still be under $4000 for the car.

Thanks guys the deal was "as is" so I found this site and read up on problems and 1st I tried the transgo shift kit,and switched to dex VI fluid it improved a lil but the same the slip going into first and hard shifting and more slipping, b4 that I got a few codes,1811,0420,and another one cant remember but it was 4 the gas hand,it show how much gas and when u put it in gear it goes to F,but after the pan drop, the 1811 code went away,so I was wonder if the cat being bad had something to do wit it and two diff shops said no,I shopped around and found a shop to rebuild it for $900 its in shop now,but I also have been read threads on DP pipes and I brought I zzp 2.5 wit cat lastnite,so now what should I do next, still waiting for the car should be done by Wed and dp should be here next wk I need this cel light off to pass insecption?

That ZZP downpipe is still going to give you the p0420 code unfortunately.
