Exclamation newbie

I am a newcomer and have a few questions. First, I have a 96 monte carlo. What generation is that? Secondly, I am having some technical difficulties with my car. Where can I go to ask questions regarding my make and model? I could really use the help. Thx!

Welcome to the forum!!!

1995-1999 is considered the 5th Generation! But don't go to the how-to section with questions. Those are for procedures.

You can ask questions here, general tech, or specific spaces, like exhaust/intake/engine/transmissions etc. depending on the problem.

Unless you have the security light lit I wouldn't worry about the BCM.

It could still be the battery even if it was tested. Was it load tested?? It could have a bad cell and not letting it start.

How many miles on your Monte Carlo ?
Do you have any aftermarket modifications ?
Does your Monte Crank (turn over) & don't fire or is it dead when you attempt to start ?

Please post as much detail about your problem(s) as you can..The more information you posts, will help member's help you...
Good Luck

It doesnt turn over. When I turn the key as if I was starting it is when the air, radio and lights turn on. My engine light is on now but has only been on since the car hasnt been starting. There is fuel in the car..... I cant recall how many miles are on the car because it is @ my inlaws.

And it is quite possible there was a security system put in and removed.

This may sound stupid, but are you sure the battery terminal isn't either corroded, or a wire cracked at the battery? My 03 wouldn't start, here the wire going to the lead in the plastic up at the pos terminal was cracked, and just a little corrosion!! Just a thought...
