Newb with a 2002 LS
Hi everyone!
I have a 2002 LS that has had problems recently. I am deployed, and my ex was driving the car, which started to overheat. He stopped driving it, I took it back, and it's in Texas at my mom's now. Reading the forums, I think it sounds like the Intake gasket that has been mentioned a few times, so hopefully it'll be a pretty easy fix, and I posted in the General Tech forum and have already recieved one answer, thank you for being so welcoming!
Besides the 2002, which I plan on selling once I know it's in good running order, my dad and I have a 1970 Monte Carlo in progress. I know where to look now when we have questions. Thanks again!

it might be the intake but it can also be just a T-stat that is frozen up. If this is the case them it is a supper easy fix.
the intake gaskest were under a recall i belive , you might have your dad etc... to call a local dealership and ask about the 02 models I knwo the o3 was.
What part of TX?
if ya ever need help with the 70 let me know I loved mine till the EX got a hold of it and destroyed it.

We have already replaced the t-stat, the air filter, the plugs and wires, flushed the coolant, and changed the oil. there were no obvious signs of oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil, but we're still getting white smoke, even though the car runs pretty smooth. I'll have mom call about checking on a recall. Thanks for the help!
She's in Wylie, TX, near Plano and Allen.
The 70 is on hold right now, it's with my grandparents in Oklahoma, but we're accumulating the parts to put a 383 in it.

Hi `Krista,
I hope that you can resolve the problem with your Monte.
I would have your mother call your Chevrolet dealer
service dept, and ask about the recall and
explain the problem.
Also, thanks for your service to our country.
We Appreciate.....4-Sure!

I wish you a safe return to the USA, your family
and your Monte Carlo.
Good Luck to you,
`Space

Hi Krista!
Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum.
Sorry I missed your welcome thread. I had been sick lately, and am just now feeling back to normal.
We have anumber ofmembers who are (or were) in the service (U.S. & Canadian). Including a moderator or two. I would like to say THANK YOU for serving your country.[sm=smiley20.gif] It's because of dedicated people like yourself, that we are able to enjoy our freedoms.
I have had the gasket problem you mentioned with the 3.4litre engine in my grand am. But I'll save that conversation for the other thread.
Good luck in selling your 2002, and working on your 1970 Montes. Try to stay safe (Iknow, easier said than done), and comehome in one piece!

Who of us is ever REALLY normal? I mean I'm a female computer programmer in the Air Force. Where in that do you see normal? LoL.
Thanks for the welcome, I'll check out the other thread on the intake problem.
On a cheery note, next Wednesday marks 2 months remaining on my deployment, so I'm really excited about coming home, trying not to count the days though, it only makes it seem longer.
To be honest, I'm not sure when I'll give the 2002 the thuimbs up to be sold, but if you know anyone looking and not in a hurry to buy one, as soon as it gets the thumbs up from a good shop and myself, it will be on the market.
