Default New Rim

Hey guys i just bought a set of black pre owned rims, and they look good for the price and one of them has some suface rust on the front of it. What could i do to remove the rust but not scuff the rim?

Check out some rust treatments at napa. I used one (cant remeber the name sorry) that killed the rust on the inside of my truck doors. Made it turn black and flake off. But I guess its best if you're going to repaint them not for just remving it without harming the paint. Might have to look around for something.
