Haha yeah 7th gen, updated 6th gen... depends on who you talk to. I mean, It's a mild update, basically the same body as the 00-05 so I myself still consider it a sixth gen, but then here on the Forum the 06-07 is its own separate gen. Either way, it's a Monte Carlo, it's all good!

Welcome and good luck finding your car! And I agree, the 06/07's are basically a 6th generation with a little facelift.

thanks everyone

When i first decided early on that i wanted one, i was actually surprised to find how limited in production #'s the 06 and 07 SS montes were.
Less than 15,000 ever made, thats crazy.

Good thing I like every color they come in

funny thing is I've never even driven or seen one in person yet.
Ive checked out a lot of non SS ones and I have test driven a 07 ltz loaded with leather and loved it so i figure with the 8cyl it can only be better.

I just havent started making the road trips to see ones for sale yet.
Probably will in Nov

There was no LTZ in 2007. Be careful if they are trying to tell you it is one. LTZ with the 3.9L engine was ONLY in 2006.

Good luck on your search!

I agree. But some 06/07 owners get very defensive about the comparison. So I just go along with it. It's easier that way.

I also like to consider them their own generation so on the forum when we are talking about 6th Gen modifications, you don't have to specify between 6 different engines lol
