Default New from n.y.

Hey wassup, i am from long island, new york...i have an 88 monte ss...just bought it 2 weeks ago in conneticuit for $1400.00...the owner was the original owner, and he told me he had blown the engine in 1994...it sat in his garage ever since...we brought it home by trailer and pushed it off, charged the battery, only to find that everything electronioc still worked...high beams, signals, int. lights, etc...even radio, only thing broken was cassette player...so the owner previously said the motor blew a rod...but i said sxcrew that and tried starting...after a few squirts of etether(gas) into the carb, it started to crank over, and after 5 min, itran!!...
but noise sounded like bowling pins falling over and over...so i decided to pull the engine apart, and when i did, i was being stupid, and was trying to pry the dampner off the front of the block, when all of a sudden it popped, and the dampner came out about 1 inch!!!...so i now i wondered what the hell this guy did to this engine, andI pulled the engine out...

the new engine going in is a 408 sbc, parts from carb to pan:
Holley 750 double pumper mechanical secondaries
Edelbrock TORKER II manifold
Holley Tri-Chrome Valve Covers
CompCams PowerMax cam510/515 lift and 305/310 duration, hyraulic roller lifters
1973 Z/28 64cc heads (Stock)
SRP hydraneulatic pistons, 4.040 bore
6 in.ARP connecting rods w/ ARP bolts
Stock 1973 Z/28 Crankshaft and Bearings
Dont know yet about headers, but i am leaning towards KOOKS sbc 1 7/8" in headers
Chevy Orange MOROSO Deep pan
Also, block and heads are Chevy Orange
Engine is dynoed and has 500h.p., probally 450 to the wheels
Also, i am using a TH(Turbo Hydromatic)400 Automatic tranny.

So, thanks for reading, and i'll see you around!

HEY GUYS, THANKS..HEY KID SPACE, THE BODY OF THE CAR IS 98 % GOOD, JUST RUST UNDER DOOR AND LOWER REAR QUARTER PANEL...ALSO, THE SUSPENSION IS SHOT, I POSTED A QUESTION AS TO WHERE TO FIND STOCK BUSHINGS FOR THE CAR,BECAUSE MINE ARE ALMOST GONE...ALSO,THE INTERIOR IS GREAT, AND THE CAR HAS EXACTLY 37,576 MILES ON IT, SO THERE ISN'T ANY WEAR AND TEAR, EXCEPT FOR MINOR FIXES LIKE THE HEADLINER DROOPS DOWN,...THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS A QUARTER INCH RIP IN THE SEAM, AND THE CENTER CONSOLE/OR WHATEVER YOU CALL THE BOX UNDER YOUR RIGHT ARM, THE LID FALLS OFF WHEN YOU OPEN IT.....BUT THE CAR STILL HAS WORKING ADJUSTABLE MIRRORS, AND BOTH THE TRUNK AND HOOD LIGHTS STILL WORK!!!...ANYWAY I AM AT SCHOOL NOW, WHEN I WILL GET HOME I WILL TAKE PICS OF CAR AND POST THEM, SO THANKS FOR THE HELP AND DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY OLD "BARN-FINDS" LIKE I DID??
