New Monte owner. New member
Hello everyone,
My name is Ron and I am semi-retired at 65 yoa. I usually drive Mustangs or Chargers but wanted a new driving experience. I have also owned a Thunderbird and a Cougar, and really enjoy the luxury coupes. So, I came across a gem of a 2001 Monte Carlo SS which I bought a few weeks ago. It only has a little over 2300 miles after I drove it home from Florida to north Texas, a nice little adventure. All I’ve done to her is put on a set of Michelin Defenders and upgraded the lights to LEDs. Basically a new 20 year old Monte.

Wow. Man, take care of her and she will last. You already know not to forget checking all the things that degrade due to time and not necessarily wear & tear. Fluids, belt, wipers, battery etc. Hopefully they did all that before you bought it. That's a fantastic deal, congrats. Oh, how do you like the drive compared to the other cars you mentioned?

Our T-bird and Cougar were from the late 80s. They were rear wheel drive; so the handling was very different based on that design. The Monte is much more sophisticated in technology since it is much newer. I really like it and the seats are very comfortable, more so than my wife’s 2019 Lincoln MKC. Her evaluation, not mine. The LED upgrade took care of the mediocre (by today’s standards) factory lights, definitely a worthwhile project.
