Default New Member from Sac, California with an 06 Monte Carlo SS

I just purchased a used 06 SS. Did some googling on it and found this little site. Seems like there are some good topics and knowledgable people - just what I'm looking for.

I guess I'll dive right into it.

What are the first things to do to improve my car's performance and efficiency? (and which are the cheapest!) I've thought about chips, exhaust, air intake, etc, but I have not idea where to begin! I don't even know if my car has stock dual exhaust or not.

your exhaust isn't a true dual, but it does use a Y-pipe and have 2 pipes out the back.

There aren't many mods for your engine unfortunately. But we can help with what you want... like an Air Intake (coldairinductions.com) you can get a magnaflow cat-back, then there are odds and ends like TBs.

Don't get a chip!!! They won't do anything for you.

Hey Daniel,

I'm in San Jose!

As Chibiblacksheep said, get a CAI from www.coldairinductions.com and do exhaust. I personally like the sound of Magnaflows.

Chips suck, don't even bother...

Good luck, and post some pics when you get a chance!

Thanks for the welcome, all.

Chibiblack sheep,

Apparently there aren't aftermarket headers made yet for the SS (at least thats what a local exhuast mechanic told me). I know little about cars and am kind of feeling my way through this. Would I be able to have duals installed with stock headers?

Mamonte,

Your car is immaculate looking. Where did you order the chrome grill from?

I actually think there is headers for the SS now...I could be wrong, but I believe I read that on here...do a search for 06-07 SS headers.

Thank you! I got the grill here: http://www.automotiveconcepts.net/st...&cvsfhu=353033
