Hi all - I have been reading and using this forum for some time now, just unregistered before today. I own a '98 MC 3.1 that I bought years ago in Washington State and drove to Oklahoma to go to school. It's served me well since then, only needing intake gaskets (which I gather is quite common) and an alternator.

Unfortunately, I've dinged it up in the front a few times... first time rear-ending a person on I-205 in Portland in traffic, second time having a girl back into the driver side fender, and the third time I pulled into a parking lot next to a Ram 2500. He didn't notice I was there and opened his door and KO'd my passenger side fender... big crease, probably 6 inches long.

The car runs like a top, so I can't bring myself to get rid of it yet. I've done all the maintenance on it myself, as I am mechanically inclined. I also work on BMWs, and am on the large BMW forum as well, mostly hanging out in the Southwest section under the same name.

I look forward to talking with you all! Hopefully I can give a little knowledge in return for some here. Thanks!

Welcome Vandy. I'm in OKC as well and used to owned a 97 MC 3.1, very good car. Hail tore it up and ended up with the 02 MC SS I own now. Have you check the salvage yards around town for the car body parts you need?

I've checked a few, but have pretty much decided that getting a donor car would be a more inexpensive way to go, since I need a hood, bumper and fenders. I've posted a few WTB ads on craigslist here, but it seems like about 4.8 people in OKC actually check craigslist more than once a year, so that hasn't turned much up. If you have any recommended yards to check, put them out there and I'll see what I can find!

There's Pull-A-Part on Santa Fe Ave., but I really like the one in Roosevelt SW of Lawton. The whole town in pretty much a salvage yard and they'll have the parts you need, probably down to the color.

This is relevant to my interests.

I just posted (I think) a DIY thread in the fifth-gen subforum but I think I need for it to be approved. I fixed the water-sloshing behind the dash sound... quite easy actually!
