Welcome to the site! I have an 05 SS supercharged with 92k on it (first 60k were all highway miles) and it drives awesome! I use it for my DD and it is a blast to drive!

I don't own the supercharged Monte Carlo, but I could be a testament of the reliability. Owning the car since mile 0, My Monte currently has 182,450 miles on it.
It has been a blast owning, driving, and everything. Later this year I am going to actually turbo mine.
They do exhibit poor cornering, especially if you are used to nimble RWD cars. However they still are a blast to drive.
The back seat has PLENTY of room. Seats 4 adults comfortably, 5 can fit if they are friendly :p
The backseats also fold down, I have personally put a bed, mattress, and other stuff and still able to close the trunk.

Welcome, Any Monte is a good Monte. I love the looks of the 80's Montes as I have had a few and also a few in the 2000's. The later models are much more convenientluxury and plenty of room. We just took 3 adults and a teenager to Florida and not one mention of not enough room. Why not compromise and get an 06 or 07 SS with the V8. They come stock with 300hp as compared to the 88SS with 180hp if I am not mistaken. New ones do have some power. My wife was amazed.

Hmmm... not sure why my other posts aren't showing up here...
Thanks for the warm welcome, this is a really well run and informitive site you guys have here.
Anyways, thanks for the great info so far, keep it comming for sure. I was suprised to read that the 3800SC motor only gets 18 MPG LOL. I figured it would be a little more efficient.
As far as the V-8 model, I'd look at those too.. but that's a bigger motor over an already front wheel drive, I would think that would attribute to even more understeer then the V-6. Any oppinions on this?
Also, I know that a forced induction V-6 can be moded to just SCREAM (Grand National, I'm looking at you)... plus there is something about this car with a blower that is kinda attractive to me.
Is there anyone that has done suspention mods to their Supercharged Monte? What did you use? How did it effect handling. I think stock they will pull .86g on the skidpad with H rated tires.

I approved your other posts, I don't know why they needed to be approved though.
As for the MPGs, these cars are very torquey and they are pretty heavy, so the city MPGs can be a little low. A modified SC 3800 can easily be close to 30mpg on the highway though.
With barely even $1000 in modifications you can have a 300 Crank HP car.
