Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. My name is Rob and I'm from the south suburbs of Chicago. I joined because one day I do plan on becoming a Monte Carlo owner.

I have dreamed about owning a 1st gen Monte since I was 14 years old and one was parked across from my house. Well, now that I'm older (16 years later haha) I'm a little closer to making that happen. I've been scrounging through craigslist just about every day looking for the right one to buy. I'm looking for one that is on the cheaper side. Doesn't need to be numbers matching, just needs to be a fun car that I can drive when I want to and needs some work but nothing TOO major. I'm not a rich man haha, so I've pretty much been looking for one where price and amount of work might meet.

Well today I found one that may be worth checking in to and I was hoping you guys would be able to give me some insight before I do anything crazy! Here is the link to the ad https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/c...255521653.html

I know a little about the 1st gen and from what I can tell it looks like this one may actually be a '71-72 rather than a '70. (Based on the tail lights and the holes around the trunk lock for the emblem) I know the '70 didn't have these. I'm not the biggest fan of the paint, but beggars can't be choosers. Basically, can you guys give me any tips? What should I look for if I go see it? Is there anything in the pictures that stands out to you as a red flag?

Thanks in advance guys. Looking forward to hopefully joining you in Monte ownership in the future
