One of my 2007 MOnte Carlo trunk struts has a broken mon=unt on the actual trunk lid. The dealers have stopped providing it and I cant get any "auto salvage" to respond to my plea for a part. Can anyone recommend a junk yard that can help me out?
A lot of the salvage yards don't want to mess with the smaller parts.
If you can find a salvage yard close by that is a U-Pull It yard, they work like you go into the yard and pay $2.00 and roam around with your tools and take the item you need then go up and pay for it.
I do that all the time and find some really neat stuff. I want to caution you thou not to show up looking like Warf,
they won't have any parts for the Bird of Prey or the Enterprise. LOL

Welcome to the MCForum.
i found the generic replacement is called the "Lift Support Ball Stud" but the replacement is too thick to fit through the original hole in the trunk bucket. what are the chances of drilling the hole in the trunk bracket out to fit the thicker size?
Is it the top or bottom one that needs to be replaced? The top one should be easy enough to drill out and it looks like you should have enough room for the extra thread and nut that will be sticking out the other side. The bottom one may be a bit more tricky with some bending and "encouragement" involved. I looked at two cars at the junkyard. One had the trunk gone already and the other seemed like they are riveted to the bracket. Same thing with every 6th gen I looked at, including mine. All permanently fixed it seems.
