Hi. I am really needing some advise on a problem with my 2001 MC. I just purchased it and I noticed that the fuel gauge always reads completely full or completely empty. It doesn't matter if there is gas in the tank or not. Last night on my way to work the engine light started flashing then the engine began to stutter. After a short distance further the engine died and now won't start. The gas gauge had dropped to empty even though it should have nearly a full tank of fuel. Can anyone give me some insight on this?

First thing I would check is the fuses. Cheap/free fixes first.

Thanks to all that replied. I was about to call a tow truck for it then decided to get a gas can and put a couple of gallons in it. Engine turned over twice and fired right up. Fuel sensor level must be bad. So now have a question about buying the kit instead of the whole fuel pump. Are the kits difficult to put on the old pump and are they reliable? Also, what are the chances that the entire unit needs to be replaced?
