Thanks for all the welcomes. Yes, my father bought it new summer 04. I purchased the GM STB kit from GMPartsDirect.com and Don Rome brackets today, eagerly looking forward to them arriving. Also, hooked up my OBD tool and found code P0300 and P0455. Seems they had been there a bit (9000 miles +). So I did a code erase and will see if I get the same results once all the monitors reset.

The FWD world is relatively new territory for me, have pretty much always had RWD cars or P/U. Have been finding WAY too many things I would like to do to the car . Namely, the GXP brake swap. Been trying to decide if ZZP has the best price, or if I can possibly pull all the parts together myself for less. Either way, will be a little bit, as I do not have 18" wheels yet.

Car has 143,000 miles, so I'm not really looking to do too much in the way of engine mods that would put too much stress on it. Down the road I plan to build a separate motor that I can throw a bunch of things at. Intercooler, small pulley, cams/valvetrain. Really looking forward to getting going on this. Next week I plan to order the MSD coil packs and plug wires. Does anyone have recommendations on spark plugs?

Hey glad to have you on board. I had MSD coil packs, one ended up shorting out through a thin spot on the casing. My Master mechanic went back to OEM coil packs, said they are actually very good and they have lasted longer than the MSD's did and cost a fraction of what I paid for the MSD's. (My mechanic's shop build dragsters and Pro-mods)They are currently building a 07 Monte SS with a DART block LS9 motor. We use Autolite XP Extreme Performance Iridium Enhanced spark plugs on my 538 WHP w / 104 octane full race Turbocharged 02 Monte SS

Well, my MSD coils showed up at the house today, along with the MSD wires. I bought the AC Delco Iridium plugs over the weekend. Only thing that sucks, I've got a dentist appointment after work today, so not really gonna be in the mood to stand in the cold in the driveway tonight, tomorrow they're calling for rain and Friday I bowl. Looks like I won't be hitting it until Saturday. My Don Rome brackets also showed up today, now just waiting on the STBs from GMPartsDirect.com to show up.
