New to me 71 monte in the garage
Well after 4 years I have drug my 71 monte home. Its a super clean car from the south (which is hard to find here in michigan).
I found it four years ago when someone was remodeling their garage and rolled it out to the road because he was sick of working around it. I stopped and drooled over it but at the time being only 19 I didn't have the cash. Well 2 years later I started my new job of being a full time painter at a local body shop. I just happened to be telling my boss about the car and he said he would be intrested in it. I thought there is no way the guy still has the car but I figured I'd give it a try. I saved his # in my phone (with hopes and dreams that maybe one day) and gave him a call. He informed me that he had sold the car to his brother-in-law and it just so happened the guy lived 10 mins from me and he wanted to sell it.
So my boss bought it and I figured that well if i couldn't own it I could put a BADA** paint job on it.
About 6 months later my boss came to me and said "you really want that car don't you" and told me that he had some personal cars he needed painted and if i painted those he would give me the rolling chassis. So I painted away! That was 2 years ago and today I finally decided its time.
So I brought it home took a power washer to every square inch of it and rolled her into the shop at my house.
Now comes the long process of restoring her. This isn't my first restore but it is my first Monte! So im hoping that this site has a lot of good info and if anyone has any good links they would like to throw my way I would appreciate it.
I have the body and paint under control. Been doing body work for 6 years and painting for about the same with a diploma from wyo-tech to help.
I will be dropping a 5.3 or 6.0 fuel injected motor in and that is all foreign to me!
If you can't tell by my ridiculously long rambling post im really jacked up!
Thanks guys
Marcus

Thanks for the welcome guys! There is some rust. It's gonna need floor pans, quarters and two new fenders. I'll also be doing a cowl hood. It is very clean for the year and for a 71 it has never been tampered with.
After sitting so long I put a new starter on it tonight and with a new battery and some fuel down the 2 barrel me and the step son fired her up.
Motor will be coming out this week and i will start tearing into it farther this weekend.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'll get some pics soon and start a build thread.
