Default New Kid

Just saying HI with my first post. I purchased a 2004 Super Charged SS last month. All stock, silver in color, black leather, heated seat’s, alloy rims, traction control, ect. Ect. (always loved Monte’s as there generally always loaded) I have previously owned two Monte’s. I ran a 1979 Black with gold pinstripe Monte up to 300K miles before I passed it on the my brother in law years ago, then had a 1984ss with a 350 (swapped I believe) for a few years.
So far I’m loving this 04, the front wheel drive wasn’t my first choice (almost went with a mustang because of that) but this SC rocks. And ya can’t beat the ride and at 6’3” tall the leg room of the Monte.

Jim

Hey Jim from Kalama, WA. Is there a zoo in Kalama? I'm near Kalamazoo, MI (LOL), well, maybe not so LOL!
Looking forward to pics of your new silver beast. I'm ALSO glad you didn't buy the Rustang! I live in lake effect snow belt from Lake Michigan, and I wouldn't drive anything BUT FWD in this crap. 4wh ind' suspension, disc brakes, ABS, trac' control. AND enough zip to get around!

Do yourself a favor and buy a cold air intake NOW, and get another 2 mpg. U-bend delete pipe should be the #2 mod.

SO much you can do with these L67 engines, just depends on how deep your pocketbook is. 300hp is EASILY attainable, and 400+ is pretty easy, too.

Welcome! And congrats on your silver SS! You are not gonna regret front-wheel drive in the snow and ice. Does yours have the traction control too? Mine plowed thru the snow last year like a truck.Throw some pictures on here when you get a chance.

Deep snow will get ya, but other than that, the lower center of gravity, along with a GREAT suspension/braking/traction control package, makes these cars THE best winter drivers I've EVER had, and I've driven them all down thru the years. Big trucks, SUVs, you name it. I'll take my "tail-dragger" ANY DAY! I'll out drive and out brake most anything out there.

In the last few years, I'm amazed at how many BIG SUVs I've seen on their roofs. Excursions! People feel safe in an 8,000 lb turd, but just not so. Can't turn or stop something that big. Soccer moms have a deer run out in front of them, jerk the wheel, and OOPS! Over we go.

A Zoo in Kalama? We don’t even have a real supermarket. I looked up the population and it says 2134 but I’m pretty sure there exaggerating. Lucky if we even have 1000.
As far as the FWD goes It’s kinda growing on me already, we do get some snow around here and the home my wife and I built over the last year sits atop a very long hill. I’m looking forward to seeing if it will get me home once it snows. I’m sure a rwd would never have climbed that hill. Yes it has the Traction Control also so I assume that will help.
As far as Pic’s, it’s all stock so it looks like every other silver 2004 Supercharged SS with alloy rims out there, But I’ll try to get some up just the same, if nothing else I want to see some.
