I'm from CT and I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I used to own a 1999 Monte Carlo Z34 - loved that car, but unfortunately it had been treated badly before I had it, and I had to get rid of it simply because of rust issues (the frame was REALLY bad). Anyway, I wanted to come by this forum because I'm considering getting another Monte and wanted to see what was going on with them lately.

 

Welcome Sharon from Bristol, CT, to the Monte Carlo Forum. Unfortunately GM hasn't made the Monte Carlo since 07, but we consider them "7th" gen Montes. Are you considering a newer Monte Carlo, or a classic, such a 4th gen from the 80s?

 

Oh really- GM hasn't been making them? I feel silly now - lol. I honestly wouldn't mind getting another 5th gen some day. I really love the body style of those years. Either that or an 07. I don't care for the headlights on the 2000-2005 models.

 

You'll be happy to know there are plenty of good, pampered Montes out there, some very low-milage 07's too. Keep us posted!

 

I think I understand your view on the 2000-2005 Monte headlights. Kind of a wide-eyed look that takes getting used to.
Since you said you loved your 99 Z34, I was going to say that there should be lots of good 5th gens out there at a great price. Plus there are lots of aftermarket mods available for them. Something the 06 & 07 don't have a lot of.
