New To here! read about my 84 ss
I have a 1984 Monte Carlo SS. its white, 383 Stroker. 200R4 (i hate it.) Posi, 3:73 Gears. Its a work in progress. I bought it in CT, It was sitting in a guys garage for 5 years, it was his brothers but he died and after that it just never moved. After i bought it i had to do the lifters right away, it had a top end knock/tick.... after adjusting them and the timing, and the Carb, Most of the sound went away but there is still a faint tick. I absolutely hate the 200r4 and want to put in a 700r4 or maybe a th350? can someone help me decide? It also needs a headliner and i want to do a dash conversion in it.. is there anyone who knows if that's possible? i really like the dash in the newer 01 body styles...

Whats making you hate the 200r4?
The Th350 is only a 3 speed so you will lose a gear
The 700r4 is a OD trans so you won't lose a gear, if i'm not mistaken you want to lool for a 93 or older becuase 94 and new is computer controlled
I was looking into doing a 6th gen dash in a 4th gen swap but the deal fell through
The height and width are about the same, the depth would take some modifocation,
You would have to make a shadow box to run aftermarket guages becuase if i'm not mistaken the 6th gens use the bcm to contoll them and the 4th gen's don't have one,
You would have to modify the HVAC contorls to work with the 6th gen
I got rid of my heater/ac so i was going to use the hvac spot for the stereo and put more guages where the stock stereo would have been

I cant do anything!!
Does anyone know why the site is telling me I don't have permission to do anything. I try to add photos, Don't have permission, Try to look at pictures and other peoples threads but it wont let me! Very Frustrated, especially since I cant see what other people are posting unless I log out.
it's a 5post 10day waiting period, it is to cut down on spam, we had a large amount of spam not too long ago
