New here, new to the Monte.
Welcome to both of you! I LOVE my 3800s but I also Loved my 3400s I had one in an 03 Grand Am GT when I had it and it was plently powerful and stylish and prvious to my 05 Supercharged Monte I had a 04 LS Monte with a 3400 and it handeled pretty well.

I have an 05 LS as well, I love mine. The 3400 isn't all that bad. My 3400 with nothing but CAI, custom dual exhaust, and synthetic oil actually stays neck and neck with a friends 04 Impala with the 3800. And I've got 10,000 miles over him. Give me a few months to buy another cheap mod or two and I'll be beating stock 3800's.
As for the road noise, I've never experienced such a thing with my Monte. Could just be your tires, like you were thinking..
Anyway, post some pics! Even our LS's have great potential, check mine out here if you want.
