Well here's the deal with it, I bought it at a steal, $1700. Had it in for about a year and it blew. Now keep in mind, while yes I am still considered a youngin by some people I never thrashed this engine. I always kept the oil changed and checked at regular intervals and one day while doing a tune up it developed a nasty rough running condition. After checking it out I found the problem to be a leaking carberator gasket. Ok got that fixed, still ran rough but then started making a knocking sound. After a teardown, I found the issue. Two pistons had completly come apart, shattered basically. So its in the machine shope gettin all fixed up. With hopes I'm looking to get atleast around 350hp.

350hp isn't hard to get out of a 383.What cam/heads you running

Stock big valve heads with 3 angle valve job and port and polish. And the cam is a comp cam 270. Add to that long tube headers, a carter afb 4 barrel, and a wiend or however u spell it aluminum intake.
