Default New here (but car is nothing special)

Hi Everyone:

I just picked up my first Monte Carlo. Like thesubjectlinesays, it is nothing special. It is a 1984 with a V6 and a 2bbl carb. It hasn't been started in 5 or 6 years, but I will be working on that tomorrow.

The good news is that it only has 25,000 original miles and it was free!

I am sure I will have many questions as I begin to work on it. My plans are to use it as a daily driver and to "hot rod" it over time.

I know it is not a classic, nor is it one of the new models, so I hope you all don't mind my intrusion into your site.

A little about me: I am a career firefighter in Connecticut and I am currently restoring a 68 RS Camaro.

This is a great site and I am sure I will learn alot here.

Hello and welcome ffriccio. Never said a welcome before, but your subject line pushed me to do it.
I have todisagree when you say your car is nothing special. It's a Monte!!! That in and of itself makes it special and even more so that you got it for FREE!!!! A little TLC and a few $$ and you'll be up and running in no time. Congrats on a good find.
Keep us posted on your work. I'm sure we'd all like to see the progress.

Hey Welcome to the site! A free Monte with 25,000 miles on it. What is NOT special about that?? You can hardly find a 2000 vehicle with less than 100,000 miles on it. Your monte has less miles than my 2006! lol. Good Luck with it and like they said keep us posted on your work.

Welcome to MCF!!

I have to jump on the bandwagon here: 25,000 miles, free and nothing special? Hell that's the beginning of a TLC documentary there.

Man talk about a little old ladys car. Just think thats less then a 1,000 miles a year the car went.
Good luck in getting her back into shape.
Just like everyone else has said, Keep us posted on what you are doing to her. If you have any questions
feel free to ask. I am sure will find some great answers here.

Welcome,

...And alwaysremember, only 5% of the world's population owns a car. That makes every car and every owner *very* special.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I have been to other automotive forums and the people there are not nearly as friendly.
I think I am gonna like it here.

I am sure you will be hearing a lot from me as I try to get this girl back on the road.

Thanks again.
