is there anyway do disable the drls on this car?
anyone find a way to upgrade the onstar crap to get service?

RE: new here
well let me the first to welcome you to MCF and hope you enjoy your stay, there are alot of good ppl and knowledgeable pple here too. to answer a few of you ?'s with the sensor for the headlights you wont have to touch your headlight switch unless you just want to run your parking lights, for the onstar you would have to goto onstar.com and sign up i think the cheapest is 20 a month but dont quote me on that is has been a minute. Not for sure on the rest of the ?'s cause im still running stock radio, but if you use thesearch they have posts for just about everything, bud.
Again welcome to MCF

Welcome to our Community Kenneth!
Try a local dealer. If I remember right, they had digital upgrade units available for bunches of models for less than 200$.
Very nice car there! I'm lovin the wheels. Now, forgive me for the stupid question, but is that a "surfboard" (aka flat) spoiler on the trunk? The pic is fuzzy to me and it's hard to tell. It just surprises me that they put those style spoilers on a SS.
Wishing you many happy/healthy miles in ur Monte Carlo!

1. your headlights will come on automaticly. there is a sensor on the dash that senses light.
2. there should be a fuse that you can remove to disable the drls
3. there are a couple versions a onstar (Idon;t remember the year when they switched over. it was either 2003 or 2004) where you can updrade to the new digital service. I don't know of an upgrade that is available for those before the years mentioned. I think we are screwed, but double check with the dealer, or better yet, onstar. they may have released an upgrade kit within the past year.
4. you won't loose you onboard diag. warning, but you loose the easyness to reset tire pressure, and oil change, and things like how long your lights stay on after you lock the car etc. you can still reset your tire pressure and oil, read the manual for that. some relocate the stock head unit in the truck, or some put a spare connector under the seat so all they have to do is plug in the stock head unit and change the settings.
hope this helps.
