My name is joe and I just purchased a 2005 Monte Carlo and I love it. I was wondering if i could get some help. The alarm on my car works but the radio is locked. Would I be able to removed the locked radio and install an aftermarket radio? I've already purchased the wire harness I need to install the radio. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't see why you would have a problem installing an aftermarket system with your OEM unit being locked. I believe all it does is cut power in the unit rendering it inoperable. A new aftermarket would just tap into the line in power and memory power and you will be gold. Anyone disagree?

 

The radio is what is locked, so installing a aftermarket should not be a issue at all. Welcome, and I hope I can help out some more in future.
