New guy checkin' in!
Just picked up a 2005 Monte Carlo SS for next to nothing. I absolutely LOVE this car. I've been in the market for an L67 Wbody for about 2-2.5 years now, and could never find just the right one. Well, I'm pretty sure I got the deal of the century on this car...and I can't wait to drive the wheels off of it!
It's loaded...leather, power and heated seats, moonroof, XM...the whole kit and kaboodle. So far, I really like the way it drives and handles, although it feel a bit big and heavy to me (I've driven a Saturn for the 4 or 5 years) but it's something that I'll get used to.
Oh, I almost forgot my toy. It's a 2001 Sierra w/ an LS1, 4L80-E tranny swap, and a 150-shot (among other things.) Best I've gotten out of it so far is 11.57 @ 119 in the 1/4, and 7.37 @ 97 in the 1/8th. It's currently waiting for a 408 cid stroker w/ some L92 heads to be put between the fenders...just have to get off of my *** and start ordering parts!
Here's a quick video of the truck in action:

Hi `Mike,
Your 01Sierra is reallly Awesome....
It really has a super clean look...We love the rim's also...What size ?
We love the pic, running the Beach : ) I'd have to put surf boards on the bed : )
The rolled rear, really add's to the beauty.
How low of a gear are you run'in in the rear ?
Did you have drag slicks on to get into the 11 sec bracket ?
How much did you drop it ?
What times are you expecting with the 408 Stroker ?
Low/mid 10's ?
Thanks for posting/sharing....It's great that you have Monte for cruz'in.
You are one lucky `guy : )

RE: New guy checkin' in!
Thanks for the compliments!
The truck rolls on 20X8.5" Boyd Coddington Spyders w/ 255/35 and 265/35 Nittos on the street, and stock 16" aluminum wheels with skinnies and M&H 275/55-16" drag radials at the track. Right now I've got 4.11 gears out back with an Eaton posi, but I'm most likely going to change them back to 3.42's so I don't have to shift into OD before the end of the 1/4 mile. It's a 4/6 drop.
The current setup was a stock internal LS1...stock heads/pistons/rods, with just a cam, headers, tune and 150 shot that made 517hp/567lb-ft. I'd like for the new motor to make somewhere in the neighborhood of 475-500 on motor, and 600-ish on the bottle. I would expect high 10's out of it; it takes a LOT more power to shave off ET the faster you go.
Thanks again for the compliments on both the MC and the Sierra. I love the Laser Blue color; thinking about respraying the truck LBM someday so they'll match. The color is what sold me on the car to be honest with ya.

RE: New guy checkin' in!
Welcome Mike from Jacksonville, to the Monte Carlo Forum, from another L67 owner. The blue is my favorite color, also, but I couldn't pass up the deal on my ultra low milage Intimidator SS when I got this, as there were NO blue ones anywhere. Went 600 miles to get this one.
My wife has an LS1 truck, also, a '99 Silverado Z71 Sportside. Got to have the 4WD here in Michigan. Yours is VERY sharp! Any problems with the NOS?
