New guy from Bussey, IA
Howdy! I am a new guy, Andy, age 55 on the Monte forum from Bussey, IA which is about an hour southeast of Des Moines. If any of you are sprint car fans, we are in the same county as Knoxville, IA the sprint car capitol of the world. Surrounded by lots of corn, beans and cows. I call Westmoreland, TN home and am a huge ROLL TIDE ALABAMA fan! I pastor a small church in Bussey and was an Independent Baptist missionary in Cusco, Peru for 9 years. My wife had a stroke there and we had to return Stateside. I also serve our community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. We have three kids, a son 22 who lives in Westmoreland, TN and is serving in the TN National Guard, works at Lowes and is planning to get married in January of 2017. Our daughter is our middle child age 18 who has just graduated from high school and is planning to work a year before going to college. Our youngest is Thad, who knows no strangers. He is 12 and loves being in the garage. Or fishing. Or playing basketball. Very active. I am currently working on resto/modding a 1968 Corvette that I essentially inherited from my Dad and have a regular post on the Corvette Forum. I am also currently the owner of a 1977 Monte Carlo that I bought for my daughter. It came without an engine or transmission (last had a turbo 400 and 502 and ran the quarter in 12.63 at 119mph according to the paperwork I found in the glove box) and the dash is in disarray as someone started installing custom gauges - using all the same color wire!) but is in otherwise excellent condition, except the tires which have been spun down to the wire. Again from when po showed it in Califorinia at National Monte Carlo Owner's Association it states it has a posi rear end. We are setting it up as daily driver, with a mild 305 and turbo 350.

Was going to add some pictures from my hard drive, but found it seems I can not do that here. Will look for another way to do so. Will be looking in the FAQs. Anyway, keeping things fairly original. Once we have engine and tranny in I will be going through the brakes and other items to make sure it is safe on the road. My goal is to have it going for a local car show - Rodder's Car show in Albia, IA the end of June. I have also done a 1991 Z28 Camaro and a 1972 Chevy Pickup that is on a 1977 chassis with a 327. The Vette is a basket case and long term project. It has a 1968 327/350hp engine, but is not numbers matching car. Looking forward to hearing from others and sharing things along the way.
Am following the instructions on how to post a pic in a new reply and not getting anything. No thumbnail photo shows up, so obviously can't hold mouse over it. What am I missing?
