NICE TS edition Monte!
Welcome to the MCF family.
#1 mod, and do it NOW, replace the restrictive air box with a cold air intake (CAI) or a fenderwell intake. Search the threads for that, as that's a hot issue. Point is, I drove 1,200 miles on mine, and averages 22.5 mpg. I put a K&N on and it immediately went to 24.5 mpg with no ther mods or change in driving. With 118,000 miles I've put on my Intimidator SS, the K&N has paid for itself several times over in gas savings. Do the math.
From there it's a matter of what your goal is, but there is a "U-bend" in the exhaust that needs to go away, and there's 3 ways to get rid of it: put in a piece of straight pipe, put in a new downpipe w/hi-flow cat, or just go to headers and be done with it, with the 3rd option by far the best.
With a few other basic mods, you can start dropping pulley sizes (carefully and with tunes), but it's pretty easy to go from the stock 240 hp to 300-350 hp, and if you want a cam, maybe 400 hp quite easy.
The ONLY real problem I see is the wheels. IF they are heavy, you're going to quickly start breaking your tranny.
Welcome, and do some searching, and you might have to do an advanced google search in this forum to find things better.
