New engine for monte
I have a similar setup for my 2002 Monte Carlo SS. The 2400 stall seems pretty low for that camshaft IMO especially with a powerglide regardless of the 1.82 or 1.76 low gear. That camshaft probably don't start building power until around 3000-3500 rpms. I'd check the camshaft spec's and get the right stall converter to achieve optimum performance.

I understand , I know $200 here and $300 there adds up pretty quick. When you get a chance (money) contact ACC (Boss Hogg) they're very helpful and provide great service. I gave them my spec's and they took all the information and came up with a great converter for a decent price (through Summit racing). Obviously it's a easy afternoon swap and freed up a lot of power.
