Smile New

Hello,

My name is Peter and I just purchase a 1986 Monte Carlo SS tribute, 5,400 miles, 383 stroker, 700r4 od trans. Looking forward to learning a lot about these cars, I've wanted one since I was a kid in the 80's.

thanks,

Pete

Nice looking car, and a stroker to back it up. Looks like someone took care of it over the year's .

You've found the right place to learn and talk about your new car. Congratulations on your purchase and welcome aboard!

Thank you!

probably not the right forum but can anyone tell me what oil filter options I have for the 383? Skip white performance told me to use a quality filter that's medium length? The one that came with the car is a Mobil m1-302 but is that considered medium length?

thanks,

pete

In the 70's trucks and cars used different filters for the same V8 engines . A 350 in a car had a short filter and trucks used 2 or more different sizes. The long filter IMO is preferred because has more media and it holds about 1/4 to 1/2 quarts more oil , The filter your probably looking for can be found looking up a van or truck with a 350 . Without climbing under my car and looking to confirm but I believe the filter I have is a Wix 51061 I hope this gives you a starting point.
