wat are the different generations of the 80s montes. i lookin at a monte right now for sale. i didnt get a look at the vin or anything for that matter on this car as of yet. all i kno is that its not an ss but it has the ss front end. i belive its an 88. the car is only 500 bucks. v8.auto.i am wonderinfg if i should buy it...andit does run.very well in fact.the guy needs room and lives next to a friend of mine. thankz and im a new member so go easy

 

well first off you got your (78-80)witch is gen3 then you got (81-88)witch is your gen4(the best by the way)and in that 4th gen you got the SS(83-88) and in 87-88 they did the taillight,bumper,spoiler restyle but if you are not sure if the car you are looking at is a real SS there's a couple of thing's that are difrent between them so i am sure you will figure it out ! if not post a couple of pics and i will try to help man
