Default Mexican Monte Carlo SS

Hi everyone, I just bought a 1984 Monte Carlo SS with a 4-on-the-floor hurst and a 350 4bbl standard. I have read somethings about this car, like that it is the last Monte Carlo offered with a 350 and that it was made in Mexico (It says ("Hecho en Mexico") in the trunk. I wanted to know what you guys know/have heard about it and where I should start in making it faster

Welcome to the Forum. I've been doing quite a bit of business travel down to Mexico over the last couple months. Out of all the time I've spent down there, I've seen maybe two Monte Carlos; one 5th Gen and one 6th Gen, that I remember seeing.

Btw, your picture isn't showing up.

Thanks for the welcome, I uploaded the pictured to my profile you can see them there. I am in southern mexico and its the same... my Monte Carlo is the only one I have seen since I got here 4 months ago. But the parts and combinations are unique to this model, which is making it a little hard to decide what to do (headers, Carb, cam, etc). Have you ever received American car parts in Mexico?

I have not. I'm in Michigan and fly down to Mexico when needed, so I don't have car parts shipped to Mexico. There shouldn't be any issue in doing so. As long as the items from the shipper and their value are declared, and the necessary shipping and duty fees are paid, shipping/receiving across the US/Mexico border is fairly simple.

HEY M.C. Welcome to a great site. Well to make your car faster. All it takes is $$$$ . Depends on how fast you want to go. Bigger cam will help Plus another rearend will do wonders. If its all stock. There's plenty of room for updates. I had 2 Monte's Carlo's with that Motor. Headers & a cam is all I did to mine. But gas wasn't an issue back then. one was a 76 the other was a 77. Loved them both. Great riding cars. But heavy. High rise intake with a bigger carb or re jet the one you have to bigger secondarys will help. Nice looking car Rick
