Hi everyone,im new here and was wondering if anyone had any tips on what i can do to lighgten up my 80 monte without weakening the over all structure etc!thanks for your help!

ditch the spare, any unnecessary audio equipment like subs, ac components, back seats if you want, even go as far as removing interior trim but thats all in your tastes

its way passed been on the road .. its a 1/8 mile bracket racer ..best so far 6.91sec 101.67mph.. im trying to lighten it up , more bang for the buck so to speak!.. i am just trying to avoid pulling out the plasma and cutting sheet metal away, besides me going on a diet{ha} wanna lose a couple hundred pounds if possible. thanks for helping

That's a great time.

I have been looking over that exact subject for my 86 monte. Fiberglass trunk, hood, anything you can get fiberglass besides the doors will be good.

The trans crossmember is a huge gain for the price, and people swear by it. \


As far as doors, they are the heaviest part you can remove. Fiberglass ones will save weight, but you will loose functioning windows unless you put a slider in.
Some people remove the crash bars in them, but I really, really, advise against that.

Welcome to the forum.

Is it safe to assume you already have a roll cage? Or no?

If the car is never going to be driven on the street again anyway, I'd pull the stock dash out.

hi. yes i have a roll bar already in ... door panels, window regulators.carpet,head liner. seats etc have been removed. how much do you think the factory dash weighs??i never thought of removing it but if it helps i will take it out
