Just beginning
I am Whitelightning16, a 21 year old from Kentucky. I currently own a 2004 Monte Carlo, base trim with a 3.4L V6. I don't currently have any mods on my car but I can't wait to start adding them on. I am eager to learn how to do all the mods myself and if I ever get back to going to school I plan on going back to learn auto body. Someday I would like to put a bigger engine in my car but until funds and experience allow I will have to do with what I've got for now. A car can look as BA as possible but it doesn't amount to much if it can't perform.

Thanks for all the welcome guys. Really appreciate it. I'm very jealous of everyone else's rides I can't wait to put mods on my own. Say quick question. Should I even bother thinking about mods for my engine when I have about 207,000 miles on it? Or should I just drive it as is till it just goes out and think about it then? Any info would be great!

Yeah the engine with that many miles on it could potentially hold together, kind of depends how it has been treated. I would just baby it, save your tranny so you don't have to park your Monte, save some coin up and by parts for your new build. Go get a block from the junk yard and start building it if thats your goal. Or a good semi-low mile one would suffice. Is this your 1st Monte Carlo or have you had others in the family?

Yeah I figure I'll probably have to end up babying it, especially since its my daily driver. And yes this is my first Monte, actually the first car I have ever really paid for. Its a good trooper and am proud to own it. I figure I can at least get another 50,000 if not 100,000 miles out of it before having to replace the motor. I figure it would be cheaper and probably easier to kind of Frankenstein it once it does go down, at least as far as the motor and tranny go.

Welcome to the site. I've never had a 3400 motor (had an old RWD 3.4 but that's a completely different animal) so I don't know a whole lot about them. My area of expertise is with the 3800s.
Surprisingly to myself, I actually had to look up where your town is located. I was stationed at Fort Knox for a while, and my first 3 semesters of college (before Active Duty) was at WKU in Bowling Green. I kinda wish I had finished my degree there cause I really enjoyed my time there. Good friend of mine got her degree from Brescia, so I've been to Owensboro my share of times.
