Unhappy I'm from Southern Il.

Hello, I have an 02 Monte Carlo SS that i bought the wife new in June of 02. It now has 246658 miles on the original motor and transmission with out ever having any major work othe than belts, hoses, ect. done. This a.m. i went to start it after sitting all last week ( Took Harley to Mich. for the week) the key will not turn. I'm assuming with the miles the tumblers have worn out. My question is how do you get it out of Park if the key wont turn? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Welcome to the forum!

Definitely sounds like the ignition is shot.

Wow, man, that is pretty awesome that you've gotten so many miles on your Monte, with so little problems! Good luck in getting it going again, and putting more miles on it! LOL.

Finally got key to turn and drove it to the shop this a.m. Let someone who knows the car fix it. He's been the only one to touch it since the first oil change @ 3000 miles.
