im new and need help!
Alright, i have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS 2door with a 3.4 V6 in it. I dont think i know much else about it, but ask and i will find out. In what order should i begin to modify the car toward better performance? (horsepower, acceleration...cooler sounding)
and this can't be hugely expensive seeing as i am 17 years old, i do make decent income but nothing largely in the thousands please..
thank you!

well seach the threads there are many of them on performance mods unfortunatly if im not mistaken the 3.4 doesn't have much aftermarket support

throw on a cold air intake and change up the mufflers to a coulple flowmaster or turbo muff's if flowmaster isn't in the budget. Drop the cubs and life will flow much smoother as well!

It needs to breath! Work on the exaust -then get a cold air induction for it later...
I have a '98 3.1. I had muffler shop cut an "oval cut-out" in my stock pipe just about
6" before spare tire well & bent a pipe, cut to fit up to "oval" cut-out". The guy put the 2 Generic Turbos I got at O'reilly. It sounds good & seems to have more low-end torque!
It was cheap too! I can't afford these expensive aftermarket systems!

Check out www.zzperformance.com Go under the Grand Prix, under exhaust they sell a downpipe for the 3400 engine, the downpipe includes the U-bend delete, plus it helps your exhaust flow a little bit, you might gain a few horsies from this, but paired with a good CAI (Cold Air Induction) you'll get more power. Since the Monte Carlo is FWD (front wheel drive) consider getting good FWD tires, if you can maximize traction on takeoff from a dig, that'll help a tiny bit with stoplight races. Check online for a retuned PCM, they go as cheap as $100 and can get you a boost of 8-12HP, though they usually require you use premium fuel too. Last thing you can do to maximize performance on your car is to do all the routine maintenance; since it's 2000, that's getting kind of old, you could probably get new spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition coils, upgrade your oil to royal purple synthetic, start using Dexron VI transmission fluid for slightly better shifts, make sure your CAT (catalytic converter) is clean, look into changing your air filter if it's dirty.
Downpipe: $90-$200
CAI: $200-$400
FWD race tires: $100-$175 (per tire)
PCM retune chip: $100-300
Do all those mods and the maintenance on your car, you might get 10-20HP.
