Hot Engine

Hello, fellow Monte's I am new to fourm, after reading some of the postings I knew I was in the right place. I have an 2003 MC-SS 3800 series 2 72,000 miles when I start car 5min later dipstick is too hot to touch if I let car run the temprature guage in car reads normal but the engine gets very hot and starts to knock as if no oil is in it things already tested are fluid in radiator.

Hello Rick; welcome to the forum. I would bet that your exhaust is restricted. Probably the cat is plugged.

Thanks, mousehousemoparman I have had another incident since last post the car caught on fire in driveway thankfully I caught it just in time all I have to replace is the front spark plug wires and heat sheild I thought I remeber a recall for spark wire harness, for front of 3800 series II, oil did leak out from valve cover and caught fire.

Rick I am glad that you caught it before it became a carbecue. It sounds like you have some serious issues that need to be addressed. The gaskets may have failed due to the excessive heat. I hope you are able to get it resolved soon. Gregg
